I am Anthony Baldwin, translator
and
interpreter, and occasional software developer.
All
of the programs I write are
FREE/OPEN SOURCE SOFTWARE.
This means, the
software is free to download, free to use,
free to copy, free to redistribute, and, even, free to modify, in that,
you may access the source code, change the program to your own needs,
and redistribute it again, so long as you abide by the same license,
allowing others to do the same. They contain no spyware,
malware or viruses, and won't stop working and ask for money in 30
days, either. I write programs for my own use, and then share
them with others, as the Open Source Software community has done for me.
It's my way of giving a little something
back.
The following are programs that I wrote:
- TransProCalc is a free/open source translation project management tool.
- Tickle Dict is a free/open source, cross-platform, online dictionary look-up tool.
- Tickle Text is a ticklish text editor, great for hacking code, writing web pages, ascii art, LaTeX, etc..
- Tickle Tunes - a ticklish front-end for mplayer.
These programs are all written in Tcl/Tk. Most are cross-platform, in that they will run on Linux, Mac or Windows, although, some functions may not work as well Windows , at least not without a little work. (I used Linux printing routines and stuff, that, to my knowledge, can be made to work on Mac, and, with some fiddling with Cygwin, on Windows as well.). Tickle Dict works perfectly well in all three, since it doesn't include printing or other functions that I was only able to make work in Linux.
I've bundled most of these applications, along with lots of other great FOSS for translators, in my own, home-made Linux distribution for translators: Linguas OS.
